Mortgage Rescue Scheme
£86m is available during 2011/12 for the Mortgage Rescue Scheme 
(MRS), the most recent slice of £16m of the overall total amount was 
recently released. All local authorities are encouraged to work with 
registered housing providers to ensure vulnerable homeowners at risk 
of repossession are encouraged to take-up support available from 
the MRS.  820 households were helped via MRS from April - September 2011. 
A further £86m is anticipated to made available for 2012/13.

Support for Mortgage Interest
The DWP has issued a call for evidence on the future of Support 
for Mortgage Interest (SMI) payments, this benefit is paid to claimants 
who are homeowners. During the past year SMI payments amounted
to £400m.

Warm Homes Healthy People Fund: 2011/ 2012   {21 Nov 2011} shimAdd News71 to Scrapbook
The Cold Weather Plan established the Warm Homes, Healthy People fund for winter 2011/12 to support local authorities in England to reduce the levels of death and morbidity due to cold housing in the coming winter in partnership with their local local community and voluntary sector and statutory organisations.  This local authority circular explains arrangements for applying to the fund for 2011/ 2012.
